Heute vor 2 Jahren performte das Patti Smith Quartett BOY CRIED WOLF im Auditorium Kursaal in St. Sebastian, Spanien.

Dieser Song wurde auf Pattis 8. Studioalbum GUNG HO im März 2000 veröffentlicht. Der Titel des Albums bezieht sich auf eine chinesische Redewendung mit der Bedeutung „zusammenarbeiten“, die von den US-Marines während des Zweiten Weltkriegs als Slogan zur Stärkung der Moral übernommen wurde. Das Cover zeigt ein Bild ihres Vaters Grant Smith. 
Patti Smith schrieb dieses Lied ihrem Sohn Jackson Smith zu Ehren.

Im Text geht es um die Bewahrung unserer kindlichen Unschuld gegenüber den aggressiven Einflüssen der Gesellschaft.

Der heilige Sebastian dient hier als Symbol: ein einst römischer Soldat, dessen Hinrichtung vom Kaiser angeordnet wurde. St. Sebastian wurde entkleidet, an einen Baum gebunden und mit Pfeilen beschossen. Er überlebte zunächst…
